Sun Siyam, a leading Maldivian hospitality group, celebrates its 35th anniversary with a significant brand transformation. This evolution, encompassing a refreshed visual identity and enhanced guest experiences, solidifies its position as a leader in culturally authentic Maldivian resorts. The rebranding introduces Signature Experiences across its six properties, a new loyalty program, and a streamlined resort categorization for enhanced guest clarity.
The group’s five Maldivian resorts and Sri Lankan retreat are now unified under the “House of Siyam” brand, categorized into three distinct collections: Luxury, Lifestyle, and Privé. The Luxury Collection, spearheaded by Sun Siyam Iru Fushi, offers the pinnacle of island indulgence and exclusivity. The Lifestyle Collection, encompassing Sun Siyam Olhuveli and Siyam World, caters to adventurous travelers seeking diverse experiences. Finally, the Privé Collection prioritizes privacy and bespoke comfort, featuring Sun Siyam Iru Veli, Sun Siyam Vilu Reef, and Sun Siyam Pasikudah in Sri Lanka. A key element of the transformation is the introduction of Signature Experiences, designed to immerse guests in Maldivian culture and heritage. These curated experiences extend beyond traditional villa stays, offering unique opportunities such as the weekly “Maldivian Roots” culinary and cultural series, the Maldives’ first overwater photo studio (the Insta Villa), and the vibrant Sun Siyam Beach Club. Additional offerings include the “Wow Welcome” guest arrival experience, “Hidden Treasure Chests” surprises, “Plant Based Bliss” dining options, and enchanting “Moonlit Cinemas” under the stars. These experiences aim to create lasting memories and showcase the unique aspects of Maldivian life.
To further enhance guest loyalty, Sun Siyam has launched Siyam Rewards, a digital membership program providing personalized itineraries, room upgrades, and the option to offset carbon emissions. Members earn rewards from their first booking, and each stay contributes to marine conservation and community projects through the group’s sustainability initiative, Sun Siyam Care. This commitment to environmental responsibility and community engagement underscores the brand’s dedication to sustainable tourism. Discover more about responsible travel in the Maldives.
Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Founder, Owner & Managing Director, reflected on the milestone, stating, “When we founded Sun Siyam in 1990 and opened our first resort in 1998, our goal was simple: to share the warmth of our islands and our people with the world. This transformation keeps that soul alive while giving us the space to innovate for the next generation of free-spirited travelers.”
Deepak Booneady, Chief Executive Officer, added, “This rebrand is not just about design; it is about experience. It is about cultural authenticity, purpose-driven hospitality, and creating moments that spark joy. With the Maldives’ widest choice of villas, the region’s most generous premium all-inclusive plan, and now our Signature Experiences, we are setting the stage for the future of island travel.”
The redesigned website, sunsiyam.com, reflects the new brand identity, seamlessly blending a distinctly Maldivian aesthetic with modern design. The rebranding process involved collaboration with leading industry experts: JHAGGER&CO as brand advisors; StudioSixty7, led by Lee McNichol and Jose Rivero, for interior restyling; and Dominik Ruhl, a Maldives hospitality pioneer, for operational standards and experiences. Sun Siyam’s internal teams, including operations, general managers, resort managers, and brand, sales, marketing, and public relations, played a crucial role in the implementation, coordinated by Abdulla Thamheed, VP of Operations.
The result is a cohesive design system that successfully preserves Maldivian heritage while embracing a contemporary and sophisticated approach. This thoughtful integration of tradition and innovation promises to elevate the guest experience and solidify Sun Siyam’s position as a premier destination in the Maldives.
