Visit Maldives, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism and Environment and Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), commemorated this achievement with a special celebration at Velana International Airport. The event highlighted the nation’s exceptional tourism strategy and global positioning.

“This milestone reflects the successful culmination of our destination marketing initiatives,” stated Minister Thoriq Ibrahim. “Welcoming one million tourists at such an unprecedented pace demonstrates our global appeal and the incredible dedication of our tourism sector professionals.”

Tourism Ministers Celebrating Milestone

In a powerful demonstration of environmental commitment, the tourism milestone was intertwined with national sustainability efforts. Singh was invited to participate in the “Five Million Trees Planting Program” initiated by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, symbolically planting a tree at HulhulĂ© to support climate change mitigation and biodiversity enhancement.

Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO of MMPRC, emphasized the strategic significance of this achievement: “We are progressing confidently towards President Muizzu’s national target of 2.3 million tourist arrivals this year. Our success stems from continuous innovation and commitment to providing the Sunny Side of Life experience.”

Maldives Tourism Landscape

The milestone builds upon recent successes, including a powerful showcase at the Arabian Travel Market 2025, which significantly enhanced global visibility. The comprehensive Summer Campaign continues to drive international interest, targeting key markets in Europe and beyond.

Strategic marketing initiatives, including high-impact campaigns and targeted partnerships, have been instrumental in positioning the Maldives as a premier, year-round destination. This multifaceted approach has not only boosted tourist arrivals but also strengthened the nation’s brand in the competitive global tourism landscape.
