Madifushi Private Island Embarks on Ambitious CSR Initiative to Plant 5,000 Coconut Palms Across Meemu Atoll

Madifushi Private Island has launched a landmark Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project to plant 5,000 coconut palms across the islands of Meemu Atoll over the next year. The initiative was officially launched on November 25th at M. Rayimandhoo, with the participation of Madifushi Private Island’s management, MIC Group board members, and representatives from local and island councils.

A Commitment to Sustainability and Community

Ibrahim Shareef Mohamed, Managing Director of MIC Group, expressed gratitude to the local councils for their support. “We are deeply thankful to the councils for the support they have shown to our team,” he said. “It is our commitment to reciprocate this kindness by working closely with the communities in the atoll, providing opportunities, and strengthening our collaboration. Under our CSR responsibility, we aim to forge stronger relationships between the group, the resort, and the islands of Meemu Atoll.”

In collaboration with local communities, Madifushi Private Island has identified key areas across Meemu Atoll for coconut palm planting, including mosques, schools, newly reclaimed lands, and the upcoming domestic airport. The targeted islands are Dhiggaru, Raiymandhoo, Mulah, Veyvah, Naalaafushi, Maduvvaree, Muli, Kolhufushi, and Madifushi Private Island itself.

This initiative aligns with the Maldives government’s goal of planting 5 million trees, as announced by President H.E. Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on World Environment Day.
