Following Marriott International’s takeover of the dual-tower hotel complex in Ho Chi Minh City’s prime District 1 last September, the luxury JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon is set to undergo a series of major product refreshments. As the first JW Marriott hotel in Ho Chi Minh City and the first luxury hotel in the Marriott International portfolio to open in the Vietnamese city, the property is poised to elevate the hospitality experience for both leisure and business travelers.
According to hotel manager Yannick Freymann, the operational transition was seamless, with the hotel maintaining full occupancy and luxury-level service throughout the process. “It sent a very clear message to the owners and the market that Marriott International is able to convert hotels while staying operational,” he said.
The JW Marriott Hotel & Suites Saigon team is eager to “bring a spark of innovation” to the property and raise it to the luxury level befitting its prime location among consulates and offices of global companies. Planning for the renovations started immediately after the takeover, and the hotel has already refreshed its lobby to reflect the brand’s commitment to sustainability and its JW Garden serene sanctuary concept.
Upcoming upgrades will include all guest rooms and suites, as well as the restaurants, which will see the introduction of new dining concepts. While the number of keys and room-type configuration will remain the same – 305 guest rooms and suites in one tower and 260 full-service apartments in the other – guests can look forward to new furnishings, layouts, and the inclusion of functional technology to enhance their experience. Renovations will be carried out in phases starting in April to avoid inconveniencing guests.
Alongside the physical changes, the hotel team will also undergo training to better understand the JW Marriott brand and product concepts, ensuring that the heart-ware investments match the hardware upgrades.
Freymann expressed confidence in the hotel’s ability to cater to both the leisure and corporate markets, thanks to its prime location in Ho Chi Minh City’s commercial and cultural hub. The JW Marriott brand is well-positioned to capitalize on the growing demand for luxury travel in the destination.
