COLOURS OF OBLU Resorts Partner with Renowned Pizza Chef Marco Piccini for Maldives Culinary Experience
COLOURS OF OBLU, part of Atmosphere Core, is set to elevate guest experiences with a unique culinary partnership featuring Italy’s celebrated pizza Chef Marco Piccini. From September 22 to October 3, the resort group will host an extraordinary gastronomic journey across its Maldivian properties.
Chef Marco Piccini, CEO of ‘Mako Pizza’, is more than a traditional pizza maker. He is a private chef renowned for live show cooking and exclusive event catering. His culinary approach emphasizes organic dough, long fermentation, and premium flours, transforming each dining experience into an artistic performance that blends flavor, storytelling, and cultural heritage.
Anupam Banerjee, Vice President of Food & Beverage at Atmosphere Core, highlighted the significance of this collaboration: “Our team continuously seeks artisanal culinary experiences that both entertain and delight the palate. The culinary tour will traverse three distinctive OBLU resorts in North Male’ Atoll: OBLU NATURE Helengeli, OBLU SELECT Sangeli, and the couples-only OBLU SELECT Lobigali. During his visit, Chef Marco will deliver a series of pop-up pizza dining experiences and specialty chef’s menu concepts.
Chef Marco’s culinary journey began in Sovigliana-Vinci, where he developed his passion for cooking under the guidance of his mother, Mara. After studying culinary arts at the Enriques Institute in Castelfiorentino, he gained extensive experience in prestigious restaurants, including Borgo Allegro, Castelfalfi resort, and Milan’s Michelin-starred JOIA.
A significant milestone in his career came in 2019 when he collaborated with chef Fabrizio Marino to create Pizza Del Popolo, San Miniato’s first vegetarian bakery-pizzeria. The establishment focuses on organic, locally sourced ingredients and authentic regional flavors.
The chef views pizza as more than a culinary process—it’s an art form deeply rooted in passion. “The Maldives represents an exciting new destination for my culinary showcases,” Chef Marco explained. “I’m looking forward to sharing pizza preparation techniques with resort guests and kitchen teams, while also learning about local culinary traditions.”
Throughout the residency, Chef Marco will work closely with OBLU’s culinary teams, offering interactive sessions and workshops. Guests can expect to learn the intricacies of traditional pizza-making, from dough preparation to baking techniques, creating a truly immersive dining experience.
