Agoda and Indonesia Ministry of Tourism Renew Partnership to Boost Digital Tourism

Agoda and Indonesia’s Ministry of Tourism have extended their collaboration to drive travel development, promote sustainable tourism, and upskill young tourism professionals through data-driven and digital approaches.

The three-year partnership will focus on joint marketing campaigns, sustainable tourism initiatives, and training programs to equip Indonesia’s tourism workforce with critical digital skills. This aligns with the ministry’s Tourism 4.0 strategy to advance the sector’s digital transformation.

As part of the agreement, Agoda recently held its first Agoda Academy workshop at the Bandung Tourism Polytechnic. The session introduced students to Agoda’s operations and provided practical case studies to support their learning in digital tourism.

Agoda’s senior country director, Gede Gunawan, and other representatives shared industry insights and highlighted emerging trends and career opportunities in the digital tourism space.

Under the previous partnership, Agoda collaborated with the ministry’s Wonderful Indonesia initiative on co-branded campaigns to promote sustainable tourism. These efforts involved partnerships with public figures, destination promotion activities, and support for national tourism targets.

Gunawan said, “This partnership reinforces our shared commitment to seeing Indonesia thrive as a destination while enabling local communities to benefit from the many opportunities tourism generates around local economies.”

Bayu Aji, chief secretary of the ministry, added, “We are delighted to expand our partnership with Agoda, as it not only strengthens Indonesia’s standing as a vibrant and more sustainable tourism destination, but will also help equip our workforce in the tourism sector for the future through initiatives such as the Agoda Academy Workshop.”
