Airbnb Evolves into Comprehensive Travel Platform, Offering Homes, Services, and Experiences

Airbnb expands beyond short-term rentals, introducing a suite of professional services and curated local experiences to become a one-stop shop for travelers.

In a significant shift, Airbnb has expanded its platform to include a diverse range of offerings, transforming the company from a provider of short-term accommodations to a comprehensive travel platform. The new Airbnb ecosystem integrates homes, services, and locally-led experiences, allowing travelers to book everything from in-home chefs and spa treatments to cultural outings and creative workshops directly through the app.

Airbnb Services, now available in 260 cities, offers a range of professional services, from in-home chefs and massages to fitness sessions and beauty treatments. These services are provided by verified professionals with an average of ten years’ experience, and bookings can be made directly through the app for prices starting under $50.

In addition, Airbnb has relaunched its Experiences product, now featuring locally-led activities in over 650 cities worldwide, including food tours, cultural outings, outdoor adventures, and creative workshops. The platform has also introduced a new category, Airbnb Originals, which showcases events hosted by public figures and recognized professionals.

To support these new offerings, Airbnb has rebuilt its app with a redesigned Explore tab for browsing listings and a Trips tab for booking details and itineraries. The app also features enhanced messaging capabilities, integrated payments, and updated user profiles to showcase travel history and connections.

The platform has also been optimized for hosts, with streamlined tools to manage homes, services, and experiences. A simplified Airbnb Setup process helps hosts create listings, while the updated Calendar and Listings tabs provide more efficient management of reservations and offerings.

“Seventeen years ago, we changed the way people travel. More than two billion guests later, Airbnb is synonymous with a place to stay,” said Brian Chesky, Airbnb co-founder and CEO. “With the launch of services and experiences, we’re changing travel again. Now you can Airbnb more than an Airbnb.”

The new Airbnb features are available globally, and the company is actively seeking professionals interested in hosting homes, services, or experiences on the platform.
