Maldivian, the national carrier of the Maldives, has unveiled Aerial Isles, an innovative in-flight magazine designed to immerse travelers in the rich cultural landscape of the island nation. The inaugural edition was officially launched at the prestigious Arabian Travel Market (ATM) 2025 in Dubai, marking a significant milestone in the airline’s strategic communication and cultural storytelling efforts.
The magazine represents a strategic collaboration between Maldivian and Open Sky Group, featuring a multilingual approach that will engage international travelers through carefully curated content. Uniquely positioned, Aerial Isles will publish tri-annually, offering readers an in-depth exploration of Maldivian heritage, travel experiences, and contemporary narratives.
At the launch event hosted at the Visit Maldives stand, Mr. Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO of the Maldives Marketing and PR Corporation (MMPRC), highlighted the publication’s significance in promoting destination storytelling. The magazine will be distributed across Maldivian flights, airport lounges, and select resorts, ensuring maximum visibility and reach.
Breaking traditional publishing boundaries, Aerial Isles will feature content in three languages – English, Dhivehi, and Chinese – strategically designed to appeal to diverse international audiences. The publication aims to transcend conventional in-flight reading materials by offering deeply engaging articles, exclusive interviews, and immersive destination insights that capture the essence of Maldivian culture.
Ms. Shahuzan Abdulla, General Manager of Maldivian, emphasized that the magazine is more than just an informational resource. “Aerial Isles represents our commitment to enhancing passenger experience and serving as a cultural ambassador,” she stated. The publication will provide travelers with unique perspectives on the Maldives, showcasing its landscapes, traditions, and contemporary narratives.
The partnership with Open Sky Group, a seasoned content creation and publishing company established in 2011 and recently rebranded, brings substantial expertise to the project. Mr. Hussain Shiham, Managing Director of Open Sky Group, underscored the collaborative vision of creating a publication that goes beyond traditional travel documentation.
With its multilingual approach and comprehensive content strategy, Aerial Isles is positioned to become a benchmark in destination-focused in-flight publications. By bridging cultural understanding and travel experiences, the magazine represents an innovative approach to destination marketing and passenger engagement.
Travelers can look forward to three editions annually, each promising to deliver a curated narrative that explores the multifaceted beauty of the Maldives. From in-depth cultural features to stunning visual storytelling, Aerial Isles is set to redefine the in-flight reading experience.
